Konstantin Popov has graduated from the Chemical Department of Moscow Lomonosov State University, and then he got his Ph.D. degree there in 1976. In 1984-1985 he did his post-doctoral work in coordination chemistry with professor Georgio Anderegg at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. In 1992 Konstantin Popov got his Doctor of Sciences degree in inorganic chemistry at N.S.Kurnakov Institute of Inorganic and General Chemistry, Moscow; and in 1996 – a Professor of Physical and Colloid Chemistry title at Moscow University of Food Production. In 2008 he got Senior Lecturer title in coordination chemistry at Oulu University, Oulu, Finland. In 1994 and 1996 he was a visiting professor at ISOTRON Co., New Orleans, USA, doing research on soil remediation from radionuclides within the frames of US DOE Projects; and in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 at the invitation of Acad. Sci. Finland he was a visiting professor in coordination chemistry at Oulu University for the periods from 1 to 2 months.
In 1997-2001 he was elected the Titular member of International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), Analytical Chemistry Division, Commission V.6 (Chem. Equilibrium Data); and in 1999-2001 – a Secretary of Commission V.6, IUPAC. In 1995 Konstantin Popov was awarded Chernyaev memorial medal for the effect of selective paramagnetic NMR line broadening; in 1997 he got “Environment and Living” Award (Baden-Wuertemberg, Germany) for the research in chelating agents assisted soil remediation; in he got 2002-2005 Awards: “Professor -2002”; “Professor -2004”; and “Professor -2005” in Chemistry, Moscow; in 2006 a Honor Award from Oulu University (Finland) for mutual research achievements in chemical equilibria; and in 2011 Proctor & Gamble Award “Innovative Initiative” for the research in chelating agents assisted soil and concrete remediation, Moscow. Since 2012 he is heading a laboratory at JSC “Fine Chemicals R&D Centre”, Moscow. Konstantin Popov is a co-author of over 130 journal publications and of 7 monographs.
