The applied technique, combined with F. Mansfeld’s calculation procedure, differentiates between the passive state and localized activation of steel reinforcement, enabling the evaluation of corrosion rates in fine-grained concrete samples, including those treated with the migrating corrosion inhibitor. The results align with data from standardized assessment methods, such as half-cell potential, specific electrical resistivity, and surface analysis of rebar. The high protective properties of IFKhAN-80 were confirmed under laboratory conditions over 320 days of periodic immersion in a 3% NaCl solution designed to induce localized corrosion activation. The inhibitor’s efficiency was 83.9% for “new” mortar compared to control samples without the inhibitor. The efficiency reached 87.5% for chloride-contaminated concrete, simulating conditions like seawater mixing or the exposure of reinforced concrete structures to marine environments. The findings showed that IFKhAN-80 treatment does not impact specific electrical resistivity. The protective mechanism of the studied inhibitor in mortar is thus hypothesized to involve reducing the rate of partial electrode reactions and/or the critical chloride concentration rather than altering the capillary-pore system properties like hydrophobization or densification.
