In 1954, V.P. Grigor’ev graduated from the Chemistry Department of Rostov State University (RSU) and entered a PhD programme at the Chair of technology of electrochemical production of Novocherkassk Polytechnical Institute (NPI). He defended his PhD (Candidate) thesis in 1958. In 1968, V.P. Grigor’ev became the Dean of RSU Chemical Department. In 1970, he defended his Doctor dissertation and became a Professor in 1971. Same year, a Department of electrochemistry under guidance of V.P. Grigor’yev was created in Research institute of physical and organic chemistry, an RSU subdivision. In 1976, the Chair of Electrochemistry was created, which V.P. Grigor’yev was in charge of until 2008. From 1972 till 1976, we was Provost for education and from 1976 till 1989, Provost for Research at Rostov State University (RSU). V.P. Grigor’ev is an author of over 100 Authors’ certificates and Patents for inventions. He was awarded a badge of honor “USSR Inventor” and a gold medal of USSR VDNKh (Exhibition of Economic Achievements). For his remarkable achievements in scientific, educational and organizational activities, V.P. Grigor’ev was awarded an Order of the Red Banner of Labour, a medal “For diligence in work”, and honorary award pins from USSR Ministry of higher education “For excellence” and from German Democratic Republic Ministry of higher education for achievements in training of top-qualification personnel. V.P. Grigor’ev is the author or coauthor of over 570 scientific papers and reviews, including two monographs “Chemical structure and protective action of corrosion inhibitors” and “Solvent nature and protective action of corrosion inhibitors”. He used to participate in activities of the Editorial Board of “Zashchita Metallov” (Protection of Metals and Physical Chemistry of Surfaces) journal.

 

V.P. Grigor’ev is an expert in the fields of metal corrosion and protection of metals in organic, aqueous-organic and aqueous media; cathodic deposition and anodic dissolution of metals; chemical transformation energy conversion in non-aqueous and aqueous organic solvents.
